Reading this chapter we reads about the woman with the twelve stars on her head, who is clothed in the sun and will be the mother of a son who will rule all nations. The perfect picture of the nation of Israel, with the twelve stars representing the twelve tribes and the son being Jesus. As you read about the woman, you can see Israel's story. They have many times been in situations where they have had to flee in to the wilderness and they have always been protected. Even today, they are a small nation amidst nations that would do them harm. Satan has continually used other nations to try destroy Israel, but God's protection is faithful.
Now what about us gentile Christians. Recently, I heard that when we accept Jesus as our savior, we become spiritually grafted into the nation of Israel. I think there is truth to that and we see in the Old Testament that people can become a part of the tribes of Israel. Therefore, we can count ourselves among the children of the woman that will be plagued by Satan in His attempt to destroy the woman.
So what to walk away from this with for today? Know that as God's child, you are protected. Understand that Satan will be trying to hurt and destroy you, but that Satan cannot defeat God.
