Esther 7 - Prosperity

Have you ever looked around and asked why the wicked survive and seem to prosper? I admit there have been times when this seems true to me and I question God.

When I get in this mood, I have to always remember a few things:

1. I don't see the whole tapestry of what is happening in this world. I only see a small piece God knows what is happening with each thread and my job is to trust God to weave them all into a patters that brings glory to God's name and serves God's purpose.
2. Prosperity on earth does not signify prosperity in heaven. Our time here on the earth is short compared to eternity. I am trying to live for eternity, not for the here and now. Often those people who are serving themselves, are living for the moment. They may be successful at the moment, but that doesn't translate to heavenly success. 

In all these circumstances, I also have to go back and remind myself, what God asked Job. Who are you to questions God? That is so true, God is creator and I am creation. I have no qualification s or rights to question God's methods.

I have to wonder if these kind of thoughts were going through the head of Mordecai or Esther in relation to Haman and Haman was gaining favor with King Xerxes. Or did they just believe that God would work out the eventual outcome so that the righteous would ultimately prosper. In this chapter though, we are reminded that God does work things out for the righteous. Haman, perishes and loses all the power and success he had gained through his wickedness. Yes, he had a season, but that season was short lived. The suffering of the righteous also has a season, and consider it in with eternity and that too, is short lived.

Stop worrying about who prospers on earth and who doesn't. Just focus on the eyes of Jesus and live righteously knowing that eternity waits for you and that God welcomes those who have welcomed God!
